Pictorial unboxing, review, building, painting and weathering of Tamiya’s 1/35 Special Air Service (SAS) World War 2 Jeep from the northern Africa campaign.
Tamiya Special Air Service WW2 Jeep, Kit Reference: 35033
Straight out the box with no aftermarket photo-etch, with only a little scratch building for final details. Paints were mainly Vallejo and Tamiya.
Flory Models Brown wash was used for all weathering. All reference pictures are black and white, but clearly show these jeeps took a battering and very weathered.
A great kit, and considering the molds are around 40 years old it went together very well, with little clean-up. It was a quick build, and great fun; it is perfect for a diorama, especially because it is so customisable.
It is also very small, just 9.5cm (less that 4 inches) in length.
