Whilst rummaging through a box in the attic I found a model of an Airfix 1/72 scale DeHavilland Chipmunk plane. This is an old kit which Airfix no longer produce, but as I flew in one when I was in the Air Training Corps (many years ago!) I thought I’d have another look at it; and discuss the kit.

Please bear in mind that this is one of the first kits I built when I got back into the hobby – and also one of the first I attempted to use an airbrush on!

I am tempted to purchase another Chipmunk kit (they do crop up on eBay regularly) and build it again, just to see how my modelling skills have progressed over the last few years. It’s only a small kit, but will have a place in the heart of many who were in the Air Cadets and flew in one of these.
