Unboxing & Review

This is my unboxing and review of Hornby’s Class 47 in 00 gauge, with TTS Sound. Reference R3393TTS.

The model is in Railfreight Distribition livery, number 47033. The livery is applied well and crisp.

It is part of Hornby’s Railroad Range, which offers models which are not as detailed as other offerings, but this is reflected in the price – which is considerably cheaper that many other RTR 00 gauge models.

The main classic shape of the Class 47 is achieved, and without too many additional detail parts it doesn’t seem overly lacking (which can be more obvious with a steam locomotive from the Railroad Range).

What also sets this apart in the inclusion of TTS sound (and therefore is DCC ready. This is Hornby’s entry level into adding sound to a locomotive. Again, it isn’t as detailed as more expensive options, but to my ears it sounds good – and sounds better than nothing at all!

In fact, the whole model (including TTS sound) costs less than it does to add the sound option to other RTR locomotives – which really does make it a no brainer!
